It’s that time of year again. The day Mum’s love, and the day their children forget about until it’s the day before and you have to do a quick run to the nearest shopping centre to grab a nice candle, some bath salts and a hand cream.

However this year we have a problem.

The shops are closed. We have to PREPARE early for this big day so that is why we are here to solve your problems, so you don’t have to be the person that has to shop at Coles or the chemist to find a gift for your mum this year.

Activities you can do:

Plan a Backyard Picnic

Whether it is via zoom or at a safe social distance in your front yard this can be a great way to spend some quality time together relaxing and just having a good catch up.

Cook Together

Again, if it is in person or online have a cooking class. Grab a glass of wine choose a recipe and cook with your mum then enjoy the meal over the internet that night.

Have a Spa Day

This is the time when all those candles and bath salts that you got your mum over the last 10 years come into play. You can set up a relaxing space for your mum light some candles, run a bath, pour her a glass of wine let her enjoy some space to watch her favourite show or read a book.

If you’re online you could both put on a face mask and watch a movie on the couch together via zoom.

Creative Ideas

Scrapbook or Make a Card

This can be as extra or as simple as you’d like; whether you just fold a piece of paper in half and paint a rainbow of it and write a nice message or build a full-on scrapbook complete with ribbons and stickers is totally up to you.

If you have younger kids, you could even make a scrapbook with them as a bonding activity!

Create Things Together

Make candles, start knitting, do yoga or plant a herb garden. Whatever it is find something that you both enjoy and start that together as a fun isolation activity. Check-in with each other every so often as to how you are going!

Make Your Mum a Gift Box

Add in flowers from your garden, some chocolates, a bottle of wine and a few cute little gifts from below and pop it in a box and deliver it or ship to your mum.
